About Jo Morgan Sloan

Jo Morgan Sloan is a Colorado native and a California transplant. He has been actively writing fiction and nonfiction since late 2013.

As part of the writing process, Jo has dedicated many hours of research in the psychology and healing of sexual assault survivors, PTSD, Narcissistic and Borderline personality disorders, LGBTQA+ community issues, and sign language. He is well-versed in Norse mythology, Marvel comics, Dungeons and Dragons, the American health care system (as a provider and patient), orchids, tarantulas, and much more.

Apart from his work as an author, Jo serves his local community as a doctor of Audiology, though his trans status is not widely known. He is an oft-requested guest speaker and instructor for a variety of topics relating to audiology and other passions. Public speaking is his strength.

Jo is a musician, an artist, a mother, a spouse, and a sibling to one incredible sister. He is a survivor of suicide loss. Jo also lives with a myriad of "invisible diseases" that impact his everyday life. Though some of his struggles are debilitating, he is grateful for all the things he is fully capable of.

While several aspects of Jo's life are intensely personal, he is a pansexual trans man early in transition (don't panic over pronouns, though he/him is preferred). Any and all representations of LGBTQA+ characters are brought to life through his own experiences and/or heavy interviewing. He has no intent to present characters different from his personal identification in a disrespectful or ignorant manner, and he frequently seeks clarification to increase his understanding and stay current with labels and/or social issues.

While Jo writes across all physical pairings, any marginalized characters (particularly LGBTQA+) found in his content are created alongside people who identify as those characters do, and as such, co-authors may be listed in such cases. He will not take up space in the publishing world where stories may be more appropriately told by OWNVoice content creators.

Morgan uses writing as a way to explore who he is, and as a way to cope with life's many curveballs. He sincerely hopes anyone who reads his content will find hope, comfort, positive relatability, and will know they aren't alone.

His motto is, "I'm a fixer, not a fusser."
